EUIPO 2023 Grant for SMEs
In 2023 small or medium enterprises (SMEs) can apply for a grant related to intellectual property protection at the European Union intellectual property office (EUIPO). The aim of this grant scheme is to help small and medium businesses to protect their intellectual property such as trademark, designs, patents and so on. Applications can be filed from 23.01.2023 to 08.12.2023 and the finances that European Union can offer are not limmitless and so the principle of “First come first serves” will be applied.

What services can I use this grant for?
You can get paid 75% of value for following services from the grant:
- European Union Trademark application
- Application for Community design
- Application for trademark in member state
- Application for design in member state
You can get 50% reimbursement for the following services:
- Application for trademark outside of EU
- Application for design outside of EU
What is the maximum amout of grant?
You can get reimbursement for abovementioned services up to maximum amount of 1000,- EUR.
Who is entitled to apply for grant?

Where should I apply for this grant?
Applications for this IP Grant for SMEs are handled by the EUIPO since 2021.
How long does it take to obtain grant?
According to our experience the applications are handled mostly within 2 – 3 weeks from the date of their filing, if they are corectly filed. If the application is not corectly filed or it is not fully filled, the EUIPO will give you a notice to rescind the deficiencies in the application. Therefore it will take EUIPO more time to process your application.
Examples of grant usage
If you file European Union trademark application for 2 classes of goods or services you will pay 900,- EUR by default when the application is sent by you to EUIPO. However if you have obtained the grant before filing this application, you can ask EUIPO to reimburse you for up to 75% of this administrative fee. That means you can get back 675,- EUR which means that you have only paid 225,- EUR in total for this application.
